Parent Organization
A hearty welcome from the SSDS PARENT ORGANIZATION
to our incoming families!
We’re so happy to have you as part of the Schechter community, and want to introduce you to our thriving Parent Organization. I’d like to share our mission statement with you, which reflects the important work we do all year long for the benefit of our children.
The purpose of the Solomon Schechter Day School Parent Organization is to promote, support and provide for the welfare of its’ children in school, synagogue and community; to help insure that the educational, spiritual and physical environment and resources for students and teachers are of the highest quality; to enhance the relations between home, school, parents and teachers in order to best achieve mutual agreement and cooperation in the education and well being of each student.
Participation in the Parent Organization is not only essential, but has many benefits as well. A child’s pride in, and connection to, their school, teachers and friends is enhanced when they see their parents involved in their school community. The friendships that evolve from the committee work we do creates a sense of belonging. Then there’s the joy we derive from the reward of our efforts, be it fundraising, celebratory, performance, educational or fun! When a child beams after their school Chanukkah Party, learns astronomy on a Sunday afternoon in their school auditorium, eagerly anticipates the school Shabbaton sleepover, or pleads with their parents to bid on the ‘Hannah Montana Package’ or ‘Super Remote Control Corvette’ at the exciting school Gala the Parent Organization hosts, it reminds us of how worthwhile our joint efforts are.
Please review the attached Event Calendar for the 2008-2009 school year. There are many opportunities still open to Chair a committee. As well, I encourage you to please sign up as a committee volunteer on the sign-up sheets that will be available at all of our back to school gatherings. IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU WORK! We look forward to and appreciate whatever time you have to give, and in whatever capacity! The important thing is to participate!
